🛒 Ingredients
10 dried red peppers
4 eggs
200 g white cheese (sirene)
2–3 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tbsp yogurt
1 tsp paprika
½ tsp savory (chubritsa)
A pinch of black pepper
Parsley (optional)
👩🍳 Preparation
First, wash the dried peppers and cover them with hot water. Let them soak for about 15 minutes until they soften. Then, drain them carefully.
Beat the eggs in a bowl. Add the crumbled cheese, yogurt, black pepper, and savory. Mix well.
Grease a suitable baking dish with a little oil. Arrange the softened dried peppers and fill them with the egg mixture.
Sprinkle with paprika and drizzle with the remaining oil.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 25–30 minutes, until the filling sets and a delicious golden crust forms on top.
😋 A little trick for even better flavor
If you prefer juicier dishes, add an extra 2–3 tablespoons of yogurt to the filling. For a richer taste, you can also sprinkle some grated yellow cheese (kashkaval) on top during the last 5–10 minutes of baking.
🍽️ Serving
Serve the dried peppers warm with yogurt and fresh parsley. It makes for an aromatic homemade dish that is perfect for breakfast, lunch, or a light dinner.
